I also use d my phone camera to capture photos of my model so that I could later on edit them on the app ‘Canva’. I also used that app to edit many text that were incorporated into my magazine ."

How did your production skills develop throughout this project? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aQXT5z3BbTBrvfhIWa4pMzCiBczp-MKz/view?usp=sharing Transcript: " In the beginning of this project, I had no prior knowledge as to how to create a magazine. What specifically need to go into a magazine . So, over time when producing my magazine, I used several different apps to help me bring to life my idea of what I wanted my magazine to look like and how I wanted the people in my magazines to be presented. I used multiple apps , I researched on different platforms , and I watch videos that brought my idea to life."

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HwLNPIeflIfCQss3f9jg6KNB7bsVI-dW/view?usp=sharing Transcript: "My magazine was directly created for a specific demographic of people , which is women of color. However, it is open to those who are willing to educate themselves on the issues that women of color face daily in today’s society . It directly engages with my audience by creating a safe space to express their experiences in a known community , that accepts them and the issues they face every day with society ’s beauty standards. This magazine could be distributed online on a social media platform or other women of color around me because I myself am a woman of color . I am a black woman, and I could use this information to benefit those around me who ma y face the same issues."

 1.How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Wl-AHZ8g2pdRxXK6f52AkZj6Xx6-ctG_/view?usp=sharing Transcript:  "My magazine “Pretty & Healthy” directly challenges convention s by highlighting societal issues and pressures that many women of color feel when it comes to beauty standards. Many bla ck women , specifically, feel as though they underrepresented in today’s society when it comes to natural hair and beauty stand ards. This has cause low self-esteem bullying and not knowing how to properly care for their hair . So, my magazine directly goes over how to care for natural hair, how to advocate for curly hair and how to be confident in your hair texture . T his magazine is a way for self-discovery for women of color ."

Description of Interview

  I choose to interview my model, Shaony Lopez, about her experiences as a curly hair girl and her younger years. Through my variety of questions, she spoke in grave detail about how she felt lost as a young girl. The media only portrayed white women with straight year which negatively impacted her identity. In her terms, she did not know she had curly hair as a child. She was told by her peers that her hair was "nappy" and "unkempt" which has been proven to be false. As the interview progressed, she spoke of how her view of her hair has significantly changed. She is now capable of properly managing her hair and states how it took much "trial and error" to get the point she is at now. In better terms, she expresses how she loves her hair and would not change it for anything in the world. Also, how the beauty industry and media needs to broadcast more diversity so that children who look like her has the proper representation growing up. The interview was su...
